Mountain Pine beetle infestation, forest fires, and international demand for current wood products are presenting British Columbia’s forest industry with unprecedented challenges in maintaining traditional supply chain practices. Recent production facility shutdowns and curtailments have negative, far-reaching provincial economic effects. Currently, there are no practical solutions to make B.C.’s forest industry, and the people that are employed in it, prosper again. It is time to explore alternative solutions using the substantial quantity of beetle and fire ravaged trees in our forests that can’t be utilized with current, conventional technology. There is ample opportunity to remove the depreciated trees and transform them into value-added engineered wood products through our process.
“I am confident in our ability to transform the industry to meet today’s challenges…We must find a new way forward, a new vision for a competitive forest sector that will inspire your companies to make a new investment. This will require collaboration and innovation...”
